Am I a Candidate for EVO ICL™?

If blurry vision affects your ability to enjoy all your favorite activities, you have many solutions to help you see clearly. LASIK is the most well-known option but not always the best one. Unlike laser eye surgery, EVO ICL™ uses an implantable lens that gives you clear vision with minimal downtime and long-lasting results.

What is EVO ICL™ Eye Surgery?

Your eye has two structures that help it focus light: your cornea, the clear structure at the front of the eye, and your lens, which is found just behind the colored part of your eye. EVO ICL™ is an Implantable Collamer® Lens made of biocompatible material that is placed in your eye over your natural lens. It adds a third layer of focus between your cornea and lens, giving you the sharper vision you have been seeking.

Am I a Candidate for EVO ICL™?

EVO ICL™ is an excellent option for most people, even many who cannot have LASIK. You might be a good candidate for this procedure if:

  • You are 21 or older
  • You have a prescription for astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness that has been stable for a year
  • You do not have certain medical conditions, including glaucoma, that affect your eyes
  • You have realistic goals and expectations

People with thin or abnormally shaped corneas cannot usually have LASIK, but are often good candidates for EVO ICL™. It is also recommended over LASIK for people with dry eye problems

EVO ICL™ can be used to correct your vision even if you have had other procedures. For example, people who have artificial lenses due to a procedure like cataract surgery may have refractive errors afterward that EVO ICL™ can correct.
A consultation and full eye examination are the only appropriate ways to determine whether you are a candidate for EVO ICL™. Your eye surgeon may recommend it if you meet these criteria and are looking for an alternative to laser eye surgery.

What is Recovery Like After EVO ICL™?

Your eye surgeon implants the EVO ICL™ lens using a single small incision, and recovery time is minimal. You may notice that you can see more clearly almost immediately. You will have eye drops to apply as directed, and you may experience some minor discomfort or irritation for a few days. Most people can drive and return to work within two days

How Long Does EVO ICL™ Last?

One advantage of the biocompatible EVO ICL™ lens is that it never requires removal. While this procedure does not remove any corneal tissue and is reversible if desired, you can plan to keep your new lenses for a lifetime. Your vision may still change over time, and EVO ICL™ will not prevent age-related changes like presbyopia or cataracts.
